Abby Chow and myself co-founded Prospect Counselling + Training dedicated to providing accessible and exceptional counselling to the BIPOC community while disrupting the capitalist values currently upholding standard clinical training programs.
Rather than building wealth for practice owners, proceeds from services provided support your counsellor’s further training, thereby enhancing the services you receive, while funding projects for collective healing within the community.
The Type of Counselling Support We Can Provide
Since this is a practicum program, the student counsellors are still in the learning phase of their professional development. These students are with us for about 8 months to a year. They are unable to provide counselling support that requires extensive experience and training. If you have any questions or concerns about this, you can connect with us and we’d be happy to clarify.
We hope that in the future, we will grow and be able to provide more support to the community regardless of the concerns/struggles they are navigating.
What we offer:
- Individual and relationship counselling from an anti-oppressive, intersectional, abolitionist framework
- Masters level students are supervised through weekly individual and group supervision. They also receive specialized training from community leaders in the field.
- Counselling services at a lower cost $25 – $80 per 50 minute session
